The Community Furniture Store in York

The Community Furniture Store in York supports people in the local community by reusing unwanted but still useable furniture.  We collect furniture and other household goods free of charge and make these available for resale to others that can still make good use of them.  The Store is open to all and people living on a low income e.g. Universal Credit, students, pension credits receive 30% discount on all preloved items.  We also work closely with City of York Council to provide furniture and electrical appliances to people in need through their Financial Assistance Scheme.  In 2018/19 the Store reused over 9,000 items preventing an estimated 237 tonnes of unnecessary waste.

The Store offers work experience and training opportunities to people that are long term unemployed including those who face barriers to employment such as a disability or poor mental health.

Supporting the work of the store, whether in the warehouse or carrying out furniture repair and refurbishment helps to develop social and practical skills as well as improving their wellbeing.

Your donation can help another family to live a better life.  To arrange collection of those items you no longer need please call 01904 426444 or visit the Store at Unit 29, the Raylor Centre, James Street, York YO10 3DW.
